The Papist Netflix: Pius Media Rents out Catholic DVDs

by J. Hanson on August 20, 2010

If you’ve ever wanted to watch the star of Anaconda play JPII, but you’ve been unwilling to pay $17.95, then have I got the site for you!

I don’t know how she found it, but the belovéd spouse discovered Pius Media a while back. It’s nice. Like you do in Netflix, you pay a monthly rate that can be more or less depending on the number of DVDs you want to have at any given time.

But unlike Netflix, there’s lots of Catholic stuff—like Francis Xavier – and the Samurai’s Lost Treasure. (Let’s hear about that adventure in a homily sometime, Padre!) So if you’re sick of Kipper, Caillou, et al., check out Pius Media.

Of course, if you’re a parishioner at Our Lady of Cultural Retreat and don’t own a TV, ignore this recommendation. (But what are you doing on a computer?)

And don’t forget: let us know what you think about Pius Media in the comments section.

Monsieur Delgado: Those of us who eschew television are not retro-technophobes. We are very wired, in part because we need to buy used books on alibris, but that’s not the only reason.

Nor are we in “retreat”–the correct term is “detoxification.”

We are the avant-guard, the leading edge of the massive cultural reconfiguration that will result in the total disintegration of scheduled broadcast programming. Within 30 years, the only non-”on demand” content in this part of the world will be weak signals coming in from Mexico.
