This month’s Happy Hour conversation will be led by Scottsdale’s Notre Dame Prep Theology Teacher Stephen M. Matuszak, S.T.D., who discusses the lesser-known side of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
St. Teresa of Calcutta is sometimes referred to as a Saint of darkness. She was not afraid to enter into dark places for forsaken faces as she encountered Christ in the distressing disguise of the poor. Plunged into “the night of the spirit” for much of her adult life, her single-mindedness radiated mercy and love. Her radical renunciation and fidelity enabled her Spouse to shine with an abundance of corporal and spiritual words of mercy. Her letters give us a glimpse of her desolate journey and purposeful struggle toward transforming union, the mystery of God’s work in a soul that cleaved unrelentingly to Him.
